Spring is here! I guess it is theoretically here. So the calendar says…the weather doesn’t seem to agree but I hear it is going to warm up in a day or so. I’ve been eagerly awaiting my new Synapse Carbon SL frameset in the Liguigas paint scheme. It is a very bright green color and a little bit lighter then my existing frame and fork. I’m interested in how the new frameset will ride compared to my existing one. The Synapse has pleasantly surprised me in the way it handles and rides overall. So much so that I have one all built up and ready for my wife to ride. It could be the perfect bike for her, certainly addressing some of the concerns she has had in the past with her other bikes. Once it gets a little warmer I am sure we can get out for a nice easy ride for her to test it out.

Spring is here….I think.
Another Day Another Ride
Another day another ride it’s nice to be able to say that, especially this time of year. Yesterday I went out for a little over an hour. The second day of riding is always a little harder then the first, but I think the third is even worse. I hope to experience that today but it isn’t looking so good at this point. I got to play with the power tap a little more bit I seemed to be having more fun watching the grade read out on my HAC 4. I still think I need more rides in to really get a feel for it and to start using the power tap more.
Get Out and Ride
It’s getting warmer and daylight savings time is here! Yippiiieee, and better yet it is going to be in the seventies here tomorrow! I am not holding my breath just yet. It seems that we often have at least one more winter storm or cold spell before we turn the corner for good.
I did get out for a ride today with my friend Dan. It was a nice easy spin. It’s in the upper fifties so I took the opportunity to try out my new Louis Garneau Cross-X Knickers that I just got. I am not a huge fan of knee or leg warmers but I love knickers. My friend Jon a PT always says to keep your knees covered at 55 or below it keeps them happy. I have found much truth to that statement.
A new stead is on the way!
Almost everyone in the store has a fixie/singlespeed road bike. Feeling a little left out I ordered myself a Cannondale Capo last night. Should have it in a few days. Learn about it here: http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/07/cusa/road/capo/model-7PR1.html

Welcome to Pedalations
I thought of several names for this site this one however stuck in my head and here we are. My plan for the site is to share my views and opinions on all things cycling related and sometimes things not cycling related. One of my friends suggested using a blog to share my thoughts and opinions on the many cycling products that I own and use. I am gearing up to do a 300K Brevet and thought it would be fun to share some of my training experiences with you. Such as the products I use; clothing, nutrition products, bikes training programs etc. Along with my likes and dislikes of them.
A little about me. My name is Ernest and I own the Crofton Bike Doctor. You can find us on the web at www.croftonbikedoctor.com. I spend most of my time training and riding in Anne Arundel County, MD. I have several bikes. A Look 585 with Record Carbon 10 and a PowerTap (The PowerTap is my new toy this year. I am sure I’ll be sharing my experiences with that over time.), a Cannondale Synapse Carbon from 2006 with Ultegra 10 and a compact SI crank. I also have a Seven Axiom that I built up a number of years ago when I took a “break” from the industry. This bike has a quill stem of all things! On the Mountain Bike side of things I have a Fisher Sugar 292. One final bike is a 7.5 FX Livestrong Edition Fitness bike to ride to the store and around the neighborhood.
I started in the industry in ’89 and fell in love with cycling and retail in general. My first big bike trip experience was a camp as a teenager where we started in Deer Isle, Maine rode to Bar Harbor and took a ferry over to Yarmoth and rode around Novia Scotia and back! What a blast. I have also taken a Trek Travel trip to Bryce, Zion and Boulder Canyon’s in Utah and I can’t wait to go on another one! Of course I have done my fair share of century’s some good and some bad. Recently I completed the Fit Kit Level 2/3 Training out in Tucson, AZ. I’ll share some pictures and stories in an upcoming post!
I’ll leave you with that.
