Welcome to Pedalations

I thought of several names for this site this one however stuck in my head and here we are. My plan for the site is to share my views and opinions on all things cycling related and sometimes things not cycling related. One of my friends suggested using a blog to share my thoughts and opinions on the many cycling products that I own and use. I am gearing up to do a 300K Brevet and thought it would be fun to share some of my training experiences with you. Such as the products I use; clothing, nutrition products, bikes training programs etc. Along with my likes and dislikes of them.

A little about me. My name is Ernest and I own the Crofton Bike Doctor. You can find us on the web at www.croftonbikedoctor.com. I spend most of my time training and riding in Anne Arundel County, MD. I have several bikes. A Look 585 with Record Carbon 10 and a PowerTap (The PowerTap is my new toy this year. I am sure I’ll be sharing my experiences with that over time.), a Cannondale Synapse Carbon from 2006 with Ultegra 10 and a compact SI crank. I also have a Seven Axiom that I built up a number of years ago when I took a “break” from the industry. This bike has a quill stem of all things! On the Mountain Bike side of things I have a Fisher Sugar 292. One final bike is a 7.5 FX Livestrong Edition Fitness bike to ride to the store and around the neighborhood.

I started in the industry in ’89 and fell in love with cycling and retail in general. My first big bike trip experience was a camp as a teenager where we started in Deer Isle, Maine rode to Bar Harbor and took a ferry over to Yarmoth and rode around Novia Scotia and back! What a blast. I have also taken a Trek Travel trip to Bryce, Zion and Boulder Canyon’s in Utah and I can’t wait to go on another one! Of course I have done my fair share of century’s some good and some bad. Recently I completed the Fit Kit Level 2/3 Training out in Tucson, AZ. I’ll share some pictures and stories in an upcoming post!

I’ll leave you with that.

About Ernest

Ernest is the owner of the Crofton Bike Doctor located in the Village of Waugh Chapel Shopping Center. Ernest has been in the industry since 1989 when he first started to work at the Bike Doctor of Arnold. During that time I developed a love for cycling and retail. I graduated from the University of Maryland and live and ride locally. I enjoy riding off road and on the road as well as doing a little bike touring. As a teenager I did a trip in Maine and then over to Novia Scotia which helped cement my love for riding. Since then I have done tours in the Canyons of Utah as well as several trips along the C&O Canal. Today I have both mountain bikes and road bikes that I enjoy riding. One of the most exciting things now is my wife is beginning to develop a passion for riding and we have begun mountain bike together as well as some light road riding.
